Teaching Philosophy
I believe in the importance of creating safe learning spaces in which students can collaborate with their peers to construct learning that is meaningful. I recognize my students as capable learners with vast funds of knowledge. Each of my students' strengths and needs inform my instructional decisions and I strive to make learning engaging and accessible while maintaining high expectations of all students.
My pedagogy is rooted in the belief that student engagement and classroom management stem from meaningful student-teacher relationships. I work hard to ensure that my students feel supported and empowered. I remind students daily that learning is not about knowing the right answer and that if something is difficult that means our brains are growing. I remind them that using our voice is important, just as making sure that we honor the voices of others.
